Last Saturday night (November 5, 2011) at Foundation Room, the venerable DJ Jazzy Jeff rocked a capacity crowd at the Foundation Room.  Currently,  Jazzy Jeff is making a mixtape with young rapper Mac Miller and is hosting it, titled “92 Til Infinity”.  Mac Miller will be performing at the House of Blues on December 27th and 28th.

In only its second week, Foundation Room Afterhours is making a splash on the Atlantic City’s nightlife scene.  The Foundation Room is unlike any venue in Atlantic City. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the world-famous Boardwalk, the Lounge offers global art and architectural artifacts, an extensive wine list, premium bar selections, and Atlantic City’s only Hookah Bar.

This week (November 12, 2011), Foundation Room hosts twin sisters music act, Nina Sky for a DJ set along with resident Paul Castro.

This Saturday October 29, 2011, signified the launch of Afterhours  at the Foundation Room.  Each week we will be rocking until…. 6am.  Last we had Benji Madden from Good Charlotte with special guest Kevin Jonas from the Jonas Brothers.

Afterhours will feature guest celebrity performers, extended hours of operation, playful drink menus and complimentary buses.  Guests can leave The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City and board free party buses between 2 and 4:30 a.m. heading directly to the Foundation Room.

Once a membership-only club, The Foundation Room is now open to the public. This iconic room features sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, which set the scene for the new early morning offering. Party goers can watch the sunrise and dance until 6 a.m. Sunday.

   Craig Newmark, (yes, from the ammmazing craigslist that  we all know & love), talks plans  for his “end game”. (“End game”, by the way,  is the new trendy way to describe your plans for the future: career, love, personal,… you know, all the grown up stuff, ( which by the way I,myself, need to start executing NOW so that running out of time isn’t an excuse in the future. Anyway, Craig describes his plans by saying: “My hidden agenda?  If you want to win the future, well, if you’re a nerd, you invent the future”.

Well, I think he’s right, and you kind of have to agree with him due to the fact that he created one of the 10 most-visited English language web platforms on the planet. Yea… pretty impressive. He grew up in Morristown, NJ and has had quite a career since his Jersey days.. One of his most recent ideas is called ‘craigconnects: Connecting the world for the common good’. Craigconnects helps connect people of good will for the common good by helping groups who’re really effective in areas including military families and veterans, helping find good, effective nonprofits, and who can help restore traditional journalism values like factchecking.

He says, “I’d like to build a way for people doing good work to connect, to learn from each other, to protect each other, and then I want to get out of their way.” Sounds like he’s good people and is definitely someone I , myself, would like to learn from… he seems to have AND be using the right tools. Originally founded in 2005, The Foundation Room Atlantic City was only open to guests with a paid membership.  Now enter 2011 and realize that has all changed.  And as part of this momentous occasion Showboat is introducing new weekly “After Hours” Nightlife. This all new Nightlife offering will feature guest celebrity performers, extended hours of operation, playful drinks, and complimentary transportation.  The Foundation Room outsiders who have been dying to belong finally can when “After Hours” begins on October 30th featuring Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden DJ-ing for the crowd.

“Afterhours” features an exceptional entertainment schedule; kicking-off the roster of DJ talent is Benji Madden on October 30th followed by DJ Jazzy Jeff on November 6th.  Admission starts at $10.  And to complete the overhaul, The Foundation Room is introducing a new and provocative drink menu featuring: The Kiwi Krash Martini, Kettle One Citron Vodka, muddled fresh Kiwi, lime juice, sugared rim and garnished with a Kiwi Wheel; The Gummy Worm Martini, Belvedere Vodka, Midori, Watermelon Pucker, splashes of Sour Mix & Cranberry and garnished with a Gummy Worm; and The Zen Martini, Belvedere Vodka, Three Blue-Cheese Stuffed Olives and splashes of olive juice.

Besides being Atlantic City’s quintessential night club, The Foundation Room also boasts some of the finest cuisine in the region. Their all new tapas style menu features such exotic inclusions such as Manchego Triangles with quince preserves and spicy olives; Thai Curry Samosas with Shiso leaf dipping sauce; Pork “Buddies” with roasted pepper ketchup and pomme frites; Bacon Wrapped, Habachi Grilled Dates; Polynesian Lobster Mai Tai with a dark rum spiked mango as well as several other tasty options.  Those looking for bigger portions need look no further than the Colorado Elk Chop with creamy black truffle polenta and wild mushroom or the Mirin-Glazed Grilled Sea Bass with Okinawan yam and crispy leeks.  Deserts include a chocolate cherry beignet aptly titled The Puzzle Box and a Cryo Tequila Lime Sabayon among other selections.

Hours of operation for The Foundation Room are as follows; Thursdays for dinner 6-10pm, Fridays for dinner 6-10pm while the lounge is open till 1am, Saturdays for dinner 6-10pm then nightlife 10p-6am.  Reservations are strongly recommended.  Dress is strictly enforced – business casual for dining and upscale nightlife attire for after hours events.
